Position Summary:
The Universal Banker is the first point of contact for our community bank customers and plays a key role in delivering exceptional service. This is a dynamic role that combines tellers and new account representative responsibilities, ensuring a seamless and positive banking experience. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, trustworthy, and committed to supporting our community-focused banking mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greeting and assist customers promptly and courteously in person and over the phone. Directing calls to the appropriate department or personnel when necessary.
  • Process routine banking transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, and check cashing.
  • Accurately balance cash drawers, reconcile transactions, and follow established security and compliance procedures.
  • Handle electronic banking transactions such as ACH origination, domestic and international wires.
  • Support branch operations by assisting with opening/closing duties, night drop, ATM balancing, and vault management as assigned.
  • Open, close, maintain, and manage new accounts (checking, savings, CDs, loans, etc.) while ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulations.
  • Ensure all customer information is accurately entered and maintained in bank systems.
  • Assist customers with debit card increases, check ordering, telephone banking, online and mobile banking.
  • Identify customer needs and refer them to appropriate bank products or specialists.
  • Maintain compliance with bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to account maintenance and customer inquiries.
  • Uphold the bank’s commitment to developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients by providing exceptional customer service and fostering long-term relationships with clients to promote loyalty and retention.
  • Adhere to security procedures to safeguard bank assets and protect customer information and assets.
  • Provide guidance and support to customers, resolving issues promptly and professionally.
  • Explain banking products, services, fees, and policies to customers.
  • Resolve customer inquiries and concerns efficiently and courteously.
  • Completing and passing all required regulatory compliance training as assigned.
  • Occasional travel to nearby locations for training purposes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Previous banking or cash-handling experience strongly preferred.
  • Current/Valid Drivers License with clean driving history.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and banking software systems.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Knowledge of banking regulations and compliance standards is a plus.
Working Conditions:
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. (coin bags, cash boxes).
  • Professional appearance and demeanor required.
