Southwestern University will be hosting its first International Women’s Day Luncheon on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at noon in the Red & Charline McCombs Campus Center, McCombs Ballrooms. Join us for this special celebration! The luncheon program will include several leaders within the Southwestern University community, including: - Laura Skandera Trombley, President of Southwestern University - Kate Sarahan ’23, Chair of the International Women’s Day Luncheon Committee - Kate Hayden Bracher ’13, Manager of Effective District Systems, Texas Education Agency - Minique Crump P’25, Supervisory Special Agent, FBI - Deborah Secord, Managing Director, Head of First Line Risk Reporting, SVB This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #EmbraceEquity, particularly discussing equity in work-life balance. All are invited to attend. Tickets are limited. Individual community tickets are $25 and include entrance into the event and your luncheon meal. Tables may be purchased for $200, providing the purchaser with six community tickets and sponsoring two student tickets. We are also seeking donations for additional student tickets. Attendees are encouraged to carpool and to park in the Finch Plaza, immediately behind the Lois Perkins Chapel. The first International Women’s Day was celebrated in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland in 1911, and the United Nations General Assembly designated March 8 as International Women’s Day in 1975. Today, it serves as a worldwide call to advance women’s equality through collective action, celebration, and community. We hope that you can join us for this special day!
